Weekend Chatter Post
Mar. 5th, 2011 09:53 pmSo, it looks like some of us are still struggling to find our footing and I'm not sure about the rest.
This post is to talk about what works, what doesn't works... little things like that. (Or even dear god where do I even start?).
Thoughts, ideas, resources, commiserating are all welcome in this post, as is procrastination, but don't forget to edit some as well.
For me, I am kind-of slowly working through a combined variant of Holly Lisle's One Pass Manuscript Revision (mostly I like this because I've found that i do like color coding) and also pieces of The Blood Red Pencil's Self-Editing Resources.
What I struggle with is having the motivation or energy to edit after i've done everything for the day. I think starting tomorrow I'm going to see if bits and pieces in the mornings and early afternoons work better for me.
Even if you're behind, right now catching up is still do-able.

With the development scene, if you can't figure it out get a rough idea of what major development you want to occur in the scene and then mark it as a 'to revisit piece' and then move on to the next one... you might find you'll come up with ideas later -- I did that with a few of the scenes I'm struggling with. it's not traditional editing/rewriting, but it allows the idea to percolate for a bit without getting too frustrated with it.
